Heading out into the great outdoors can be an exhilarating feeling. Whether you’re just going for a long weekend or for a week, you can get away from it all and relax while you’re living.
What you have to think carefully about is what you’re going to pack – as you don’t want to burden yourself with too much stuff to carry – especially if you’re planning to hike for a while before setting up your tent.
It’s important to get some decent outdoors gear that will keep you warm and dry when you’re on your camping trip. The North Face has a huge range of waterproof jackets that you can use not only for hiking and camping trips, but are also great for use around town.
If you’re heading off in the winter or early spring, it’s important to make sure you’re going to have enough clothing and equipment to keep you warm – at least a three season jacket and sleeping bag are required. You’ll also need thermal socks, gloves and underwear. The thermal underwear can form the base layer of your clothing and take a couple of fleeces as insulating, middle layers.
As well as things like a little camping stove, utensils to eat with and a torch, don’t forget some reading material. A few years back we all used to choose one or two paperbacks to take with us on a holiday or trip, but now with the huge uptake in ebook readers, your choice isn’t limited. You can download as many novels as you like, and a couple of travel guides while you’re at it.
While this development in technology is one that most people welcome, one downside of advances in technology is that you’re unable to really get away from it all – unless you decide to leave your mobile at home or switched off in the car while you head for the hills.
