DIY ebooks

In this age of digital publishing, ebooks and kindles, traditional books and traditional publishers are either anathema or embracing the opportunities depending on your attitude to the new age revolution.

As Winston Churchill once said: �For myself I am an optimist – it does not seem to be much use being anything else�.
Now the UK�s wartime leader is a good man to quote from when it comes to e-books as the great man�s near million-page digital archive will be published online during 2012.

And as Charles Darwin once observed: �It is not the strongest of the species, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change��. And so it is with digital DIY books and the men (for it is mainly men still) that need or want them. They must adapt or become extinct!

There are great things about traditional printed DIY books and then there are the limitations. You often find that the time you have to read them � like on holiday, when travelling or at bedtime – the traditional DIY books are often too big and cumbersome as they so often rely on large exploded diagrams and the like which � though fantastic illustrations � don�t always make you the ideal person to sit next to on a long flight, for example.

So serious DIYers have been at something of a disadvantage � until the advent of the ebook. Kindles and the like were the Christmas present for lots of men in December 2010 � and a lot more will be getting them this year.

So if your man has � or is getting � a Kindle or another digital book reader and is a DIY freak, an online DIY cover-all book maybe an ideal gift. He can mug up on creating that beautiful display cabinet he�s always meant to make while he�s on the bus / tube / train or waiting outside the clothes shops � or even sitting on the sofa while you watch your favourite soap.
The man really has no excuse anymore!
